Several scientific research studies have been done showing the benefits of an alkaline lifestyle and diet like that developed and researched by Dr. Robert O. Young and Shelley Young. Bicarbonate Increases Tumor pH and Inhibits Spontaneous Metastases
Abstract:
The external pH of solid tumors is acidic as a consequence of increased metabolism of glucose and poor perfusion. Acid pH has been shown to stimulate tumor cell invasion and metastasis in vitro and in cells before tail vein injection in vivo. The present study investigates whether inhibition of this tumor acidity will reduce the incidence of in vivo metastases. Here, we show that oral NaHCO3 selectively increased the pH of tumors and reduced the formation of spontaneous metastases in mouse models of metastatic breast cancer. This treatment regimen was shown to significantly increase the extracellular pH, but not the intracellular pH, of tumors by 31P magnetic resonance spectroscopy and the export of acid from growing tumors by fluorescence microscopy of tumors grown in window chambers. NaHCO3 therapy also reduced the rate of lymph node involvement, yet did not affect the levels of circulating tumor cells, suggesting that reduced organ metastases were not due to increased intr avasation. In contrast, NaHCO3 therapy significantly reduced the formation of hepatic metastases following intrasplenic injection, suggesting that it did inhibit extravasation and colonization. In tail vein injections of alternative cancer models, bicarbonate had mixed results, inhibiting the formation of metastases from PC3M prostate cancer cells, but not those of B16 melanoma. Although the mechanism of this therapy is not known with certainty, low pH was shown to increase the release of active cathepsin B, an important matrix remodeling protease. Acid-Mediated Tumor Invasion: a Multidisciplinary Study
Abstract:
The acid-mediated tumor invasion hypothesis proposes altered glucose metabolism and increased glucose uptake, observed in the vast majority of clinical cancers by fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography, are critical for development of the invasive phenotype. In this model, increased acid production due to altered glucose metabolism serves as a key intermediate by producing H+ flow along concentration gradients into adjacent normal tissue. This chronic exposure of peritumoral normal tissue to an acidic microenvironment produces toxicity by: (a) normal cell death caused by the collapse of the transmembrane H+ gradient inducing necrosis or apoptosis and (b) extracellular matrix degradation through the release of cathepsin B and other proteolytic enzymes. Tumor cells evolve resistance to acid-induced toxicity during carcinogenesis, allowing them to survive and proliferate in low pH microenvironments. This permits them to invade the damaged adjacent normal tissue despite the acid gradients. Here, we describe theoretical and empirical evidence for acid-mediated invasion. In silico simulations using mathematical models provide testable predictions concerning the morphology and cellular and extracellular dynamics at the tumor-host interface. In vivo experiments confirm the presence of peritumoral acid gradients as well as cellular toxicity and extracellular matrix degradation in the normal tissue exposed to the acidic microenvironment. The acid-mediated tumor invasion model provides a simple mechanism linking altered glucose metabolism with the ability of tumor cells to form invasive cancers. (Cancer Res 2006; 66(10): 5216-23)

A pH Testimony
I just wanted to let you know I started the PH Miracle way of life 3 weeks ago and feel better than I have in years!
I am 66 years old, soon to be 67, diagnosed with fibromyalgia many years ago and lived on acetaminophen with codeine #3 and #4 taking 8-9 tablets a day. I could not walk through the grocery store, hanging onto a cart, and not feel like I was going to pass out from the pain by the time I left. Now I don’t.
Life long extensive digestive and bowel problems, I took prescription drugs for these problems for most of my life. Now I don’t. I also had a major perspiration problem. Just getting ready for work in the mornings, standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom, sweat would pour off of me like a waterfall. I quit wearing make-up because of it. Now I don’t.
Just 2-3 days after starting the PH Miracle way of eating, I no longer take pain pills, I’m not sweating!!! and I have started walking a mile in 15-20 minutes on my lunch hour and I cannot believe the lack of pain, exhaustion and sweat when I return!
My daughter Shari had 6 craniotomies between April and September of 2004 due to a head injury. She researches healthy living constantly. Last week I was talking with my beautiful daughter about alternative sources of protein in our diets. She is a very busy mother of three young children and needs good energy levels on any given day to keep up with them. She was curious about some protein-type snacks she could give herself and her family. Certainly, if we are resolved that Dr. Young’s alkalarian diet, which excludes most animal and dairy products, is the way to go, then it should follow that we would seek out the best and most assimilative sources of complete essential aminos (proteins). While protein is important for proper functioning of the body, there is also scientific evidence suggesting we can get those protein needs met with small servings of protein—even vegetable-based proteins. Our ability to assimilate and utilize the protein we eat (or drink) is the important factor in my mind.
From Back to the House of Health: The Protein/Calcium Myth pg.13 we read:
“Consider the following clinical study reported in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. This study compared the essential amino acids in the diets of meat-eaters, lacto-ovo vegetarians (those who eat dairy and eggs), and pure vegan vegetarians. The study uncompromisingly set the protein requirements for each amino acid at the level that would easily cover the needs of growing children and pregnant women. The results? Not only did all three diets provide sufficient protein, they were all well above sufficient, each diet exceeding twice its requirement!
“Dr. T. Colin Campbell director of the Division of nutritional sciences at Cornell University and former senior science advisor to the American Institute for Cancer research has stated:
“There is a strong correlation between dietary protein intake and cancer of the breast, prostate, pancreas, and colon. The culprit in many of the most prevalent and deadly diseases of our time is none other than the very thing many of us have been taught to hold virtually sacred—animal protein.”
This week I have been experimenting on myself with Pistachios as a good protein- enriched snack. I felt very sustained—even grounded when I ate them and noticed no weight gain at all. They are addictive little buggers and of course, and I couldn’t eat just one. The salt on them also satisfied my late afternoon munchy-attack, even better than any sweet treat could have, and I found myself thinking:
HEY, they’re GREEN! They must be GOOD!
And I love anything Italian

I decided to delve deeper into some nutritional facts about pistachios, to validate my indulgence:
Pistachios are rich in potassium, which helps regulate the body’s fluid balance; phosphorus, which helps build bones and teeth; and magnesium, which is an important element in the conversion of the body’s energy. They are also a good source of vitamin B6, which aids protein metabolism and absorption; and thiamine, which enhances energy and promotes normal appetite. Pistachios supply vitamins A and E, both critical in keeping inflammatory pathways in balance.
Pistachios are also a good source of copper, known to strengthen the immune system. They deliver many vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, so they can be considered a nutrient-dense food and the perfect snack for someone who is in a good state of balance or good health. Dr. Young limits nuts like pistachios from the diets of severely sick people but encourages drinking nut milks like almond milk when on his cleanse.
Pistachios are a good source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. These fats reduce blood cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart disease when they replace saturated fats in the diet. (Institute of Medicine)
After only three weeks of consuming pistachios as 20% of the calories in their diet, volunteers in a double-blind study saw their LDL (or bad cholesterol) drop by about 14%; HDL (or good cholesterol) rose by 26%, with a 12% decrease in total cholesterol. Recent studies show that the amount of inflammation in the blood vessels is often a more important marker for heart disease. A Penn State study showed that even a moderate intake of pistachios increases blood levels of lutein, an antioxidant that protects against oxidized LDL, which is even worse than regular LDL in terms of heart disease.
In trials, people on a 4-week pistachio diet showed no weight gain while improving risk factors for heart disease (Journal of the American College of Nutrition). The study showed that a daily dose of pistachios is beneficial in relation to cardiovascular disease. Study participants had moderately high cholesterol levels and consumed 15% of their calories from pistachios. Over a four-week period, blood lipid levels improved.
The special antioxidants found in pistachios can prevent a harmful process called glycation. Glycation occurs when sugars bond inappropriately to proteins, making the proteins unusable. This is the process by which diabetes damages tissues, and its byproducts are called AGE or Advanced Glycation End-products. So pistachios can be a powerful ally in the treatment of diabetes and its related syndromes. If you are looking to replace animal protein with vegetable protein, pistachios nuts are an excellent source of vegetable protein. The type of protein found in Pistachio nuts is rich in arginine—a precursor to the substance nitric oxide, which helps relax blood vessels in the body, and lower blood pressure. From just a ½ cup of pistachios you can get 6 grams of protein and 310 mgs. of potassium, not to mention all the dietary fiber they contain which is about 3grams per ½ cup.
As a precaution, Dr. Young would prefer that you keep your portion sizes down to ½-1 cup a day (Good Luck!) as 12 grams of dietary protein is plenty to cover your daily needs. Remember, your body is only 7% protein. Also watch for additives in dyed Pistachios. Traditionally pistachios were dyed red to hide stains on the shells from handpicking. Today, pistachio harvests are automated, preventing staining and rendering the dying process obsolete. Avoid dyed pistachios, as many food dyes can be harmful and may produce alergic symptoms in children, especially when consumed in combination with other food additives.
Make sure the pistachios you buy are fresh with the best form being raw. You can always add pHlavor Salt™ spray to make them a truly alkaline snack. Use Pistachios in Salad Dressings as a thickener or sprinkle over Shelley’s pHavorite Pasta or Spaghetti Squash with Pumpkin Seed Pesto dishes (both found in the new DVD pH Miracle Cooking with Chef Shelley). I even add them to Shelley’s Super Wraps (Back to the House of Health 1 pg. 77) or use them in place of croutons over a salad. They can also be removed from their shells and soaked in lemon water for a few hours to soften them and release their true flavor even more.
One thing is certain—eating pistachios renders significant benefits in relation to human health. Pistachio nuts deliver a nutritious array of important nutrients and compounds that support and assist body function.

Mothers can give their kids a leg up on health from the womb to the tomb by giving them a taste for nutritious alkaline but kid-hated foods like spinach and broccoli before they are even born! The only thing moms have to do is eat such alkaline foods themselves during pregnancy, or barring that, eat them while breast-feeding, according to the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia.
“Flavors from the mother’s diet are transmitted through amniotic fluid and mother’s milk,” said Julie Mennella, a researcher at the Monell center. “A baby learns to like a food’s taste when the mother eats that food on a regular basis.”
Experiments showed, for instance, that when pregnant women drank carrot juice, their babies liked carrots better than the babies of mothers who had not. “Babies are born with a dislike for bitter tastes,” said Menella. “If mothers want their babies to learn to like to eat vegetables, especially green vegetables, they need to provide them with opportunities to taste these foods.”

I hope that this testimonial will help others in similar situations.
On Friday November 9, 2007 I received the dreaded call from my sister and brother that my 77-year old mother had terminal cancer. She had 3 months to live and the “only” possibility for her to have a “pleasant death” was to give her radiation since chemotherapy was no longer an option.
Her cancer had started in the right lung and had spread out to all her other organs.
After several family discussions of whether she should go through radiation or start the pH Miracle Lifestyle and Diet, a decision was taken to “at least” allow doctor Young to see her.

Once more thank you for saving my Mother’s life! Everyone is so happy and impressed! Even our broker and attorney are amazed of this miracle as well as of the pH Miracle of which they new nothing about.
We arrived at midnight. I kept Mommy with greens and 1 hot broth. Even so she had 2 bowel moments and urinated good quantities.
She slept until 12:30pm today (our time which is 3 hrs difference). She has already had her greens, green shake, cucumber juice, fresh almond milk, pHour salts and has already had her appointment for the colonics.
My father has already started the same pH Miracle diet as my Mom, including the colonics.

Our BLOOD is most important in Relation to Life
We can begin to trace back human knowledge of the importance of the integrity of our blood to very early periods. Around 1400 BC in fact, we read from the Old Testament:
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood”(Lev 17:11)
“The life of all flesh is the blood”(Lev 17:14)
“It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones”(Prov 3:8)
Whether you take the bible to be fact, fiction or simply a historical document, it is clear that in that day their was an understanding of the importance of blood in relation to the health and vitality of the body. These prophets of their day had some notion that when the blood was healthy the rest of the body would continue to be so.
Now although what food we take into our bodies ultimately affects our blood and therefore our life and longevity, it is not the only significant factor in our optimal overall health and alkalinity. Not only are we what we eat and drink, but we are what we think. Thoughts can keep us stuck in the past or future, distracting us from living in the present, in the “NOW”. In order to get into balance our thoughts must add
to our sense of well being.
All spiritual movements support basic principles that encourage positive thinking and emotions. They promote Hope over Fear.
Living in the past or the future creates emotions that lead to the feelings of regret, worry, and anxiety that can make you more sick, tired, fat or diseased. Your treatments will not be as effective when your thoughts occupy this negative space.In the book Power Vs. Force, Dr. David R. Hawkins rates the energy level of basic human emotions on a scale of 1 to 1000. He states that anything scoring 200 or lower is destructive to the life of the individual and of society. Anything above 200 is the constructive expression of power. As you read consider what you feel in relationship to the emotions described and its numerical value.
How much time do we typically spend on negative emotions?
Your goal is to focus living your life among the higher-ranking & more Alkaline feelings on the scale. This will bring true enlightenment and allow us to not only help ourselves and improve our alkalinity but help others around us.
Although we should fully experience our feelings nothing positive comes from lingering on negative ones.

A purified form of omega-3, the so-called “healthy alkalizing fat” found naturally in certain fish, seed and nut oils, reduced dangerous polyps among people prone to bowel cancer, says a British study published on Thursday by Gut, a journal of the British Medical Association.
Fifty patients were enrolled in the investigation, all with a genetic mutation that prompts the development of polyps — precancerous growths in the bowel that often develop into tumors requiring removal of large sections of intestine.
Twenty-eight were randomly assigned to a group that received a two-gram daily dose of a new, highly purified form of omega-3, while the other 27 were given a dummy lookalike, or placebo.
After six months, the number of polyps had risen by almost 10 percent among the placebo group but fell by 12 percent for those taking the omega-3 capsules, amounting to a difference of more than 22 percent.
In addition, polyp size increased by 17 percent among the placebo takers, whereas it decreased by 12.5 percent in the capsule group, a difference of just under 30 percent.
According to Dr. Robert O. Kal: So, we stay alkaline to keep disease away, but when disease strikes or finds its way in, we want the body to be able to switch back and forth freely.
Dr. Young: Kal, I once again respectively disagree. The body does not switch back and forth between acid and alkalinity. It goes full out to neutralize or buffer all acids and to maintain alkaline balance. The back and forth you are describing is the body tying to do its best to stay alkaline when a person has an acidic lifestyle and diet.
The cause of ALL sickness and disease is ACID. The body does not use sickness or disease caused by acidity to heal itself. There is no other cause of poor health but acid. And there is no other cause in the back and forth of pH except for the persons acidic lifestyle and dietary choices and the body trying to maintain its alkaline design.
Kal: This leads to the conclusion that we should watch out for alkalizing substances and programs that are so extreme as to attempt to manipulate the body in an almost drug-like way to be extremely alkaline.
Dr. Young: I respectively disagree. The conclusion is this: there is only one sickness and one disease. The one sickness and one disease is the over-acidification of the blood then tissues due to an inverted way of living, eating and thinking. An extreme alkaline diet is not extreme; it is the only diet that maintains the alkaine design of the body and prevents all sickness, dis-ease and disease. Kal: Some programs I have heard about are like this and, if used at all, should be kept to a short time frame, such as two weeks. These are programs where no acidic foods are taken, where water is alkalized before drinking it, where supplements that are alkaline mineral based are used, where extremely alkalizing fruits or supplements are taken every day, etc.

We also drink distill ed water, which is slightly acidic and, as such, is very usable as water to flush the system and to hydrate as much as water can hydrate. Most importantly, water is used to flush the system.
Dr. Young: Your lifstyle and diet does have some healthy alkaline components such as being more positive. The problem with your lifestyle and Diet is that it is not based upon the scientific fact that the body is alkaline by design and acidic by function. Water is used not just to flush the digestive system of toxic acids but to replenish and alkalize the digestive system, the blood, the tissues and other body systems. The water in our body is not distilled; it is alkaline. Our body runs on electrons which are carried by the water and alkalzing minerals. Kal: Principle 2: Stress and cleansing
Kal: Stress and cleansing always result in an acidic state… perhaps I should rephrase that — stress and cleansing always involve an acidic state. This is because the body does everything faster and with more aggression when it is acidic and is calmer and quieter when it is alkaline.
Dr. Young: Stress causes acidity. Cleansing is the result of the body letting go of dietary and/or metabolic acids. Alkalizing makes this cleansing of acidic toxins possilble and more effective. Alkalizing also reduces stress because it reduces acidity which can cause more stress both physically and mentally.
Kal: The person who wants to stay, overall, more alkaline should be aware that cleansing should be done intensively and then followed by a healthy, natural diet and meditation, healthy thinking and believing and loving life, feeling that it is okay to be loved and wrong at the same time and feeling that he/she can handle life for him/her.
Dr. Young: Mediation, strectching, deep breathing, exercising, believing and loving life are all alkalizing to the blood and tissues. They are compliments to an alkaline diet of green foods and green drinks, mineral salts, healthy oils and liberal amonts of alkaline water. I call this the COWS Plan. Kale: Additionally, when one eats under stress, the food becomes a poison. The person will generally digest the food to be acidic (if she/he digests it at all) and then the person will find that his/her body will oscillate asynchronously — meaning at the wrong times and out of balance with nature and harmony and personal peace and health.
Dr. Young: All food produces acidic residues which are buffered by the stomach’s production of sodium bicarbonate. Over-eating does create over-acidity which is problematic for the alkalizing alimentary canal. Stress is someone in their thoughts which requires energy, which then causes an increase of metabolic acid. The body will buffer this increase in acid with alkaline buffers. The primary alkaline buffer that the body produces to buffer acidity is sodium bicarbonate.

Kale: Finally, when one is under a lot of stress and the stress management is not working (I think this happens to all of us some times) one should not drink lots of pure distilled water by itself. Distilled water works so well for flushing the system that a problem arises when stress is high. Normally, the body protects its vital nutrients from water and keeps them protected while allowing wastes and deposits to be flushed away. Under extreme stress, the body kicks out vital nutrients and loses control over them.
Dr. Young: The body and the anatomical elements that make up every living cell is highly intelligent. The body uses the elements of sodium, magnesium, potassium and calcium to buffer the acids produced from acidic lifestyle and dietary choice. When one is under stress, it becomes even more important to super-hydrate with alkaline electron rich water and supplement mineral salts. I recommend, when under stress, one liter or quart of alkaline water per 30 pounds of weight. I also recommend taking 1 scoop of pHour salts in 3 to 4 ounces of water anytime the urine pH is below 7.2.

Kal: i. Avoid unnatural means of alkalization, such as chemicals and alkaline water. If there is some need to use such things, keep it to two weeks and no more. If you already have an alkaline water system, add lemon to it before drinking it. This will help. I would also alternate by drinking distilled water periodically to keep my body well flushed.
Dr. Young: Do not drink distilled water unless you add pH drops of sodium chlorite to increase the electron concentration and to help alkalize the blood and tissues under stress.

Dr. Young: Kal, I respectively disagree with your nutritional advise. Do not drink distilled water and do not drink vinegar. Distilled watere is not alkaline and electrically dead and vinegar is highly acidic and will eventually kill you. You need to buffer acids and eliminate them by hydrating with alkaline electron rich fluids and mineral salts.

Kal: iii. Use sodium sources for natural pH mitigation. This includes celery and carrot juice, sea salt, celery seed, seaweeds and so forth. T his manages pH without creating alkaline shock.
Dr. Young: Kal. I believe you are confusing “alkaline shock” with “acidic shock.” The main shock to the body comes from dietary and/or metabolic acid. There is no such thing as “alkaline shock.” “Acid shock” is known by many names – cancer, MS, osteoporosis. fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and so on. Your so-called “alklaine shock” will be known by its symptoms of high energy, vitality, fitness and health.
Kal: iv. Exercise helps to keep a natural, smooth, oscillation wave going that helps the body go through healthy cycles of alkaline and acid states. Of course, exercise uses up the nutrients that you are eating in order to build a new you; so any exercise program should include plenty of really healthy, natural, live food.
Dr. Young: Exercise helps to remove excess acids out through the pores of the skin helping to keep the body akaline by design. You need to sweat and pee your way to health. These are two of the best ways to remove dietary and/or metabolic acid.
Kal: v. Emphasize digestion always. Whether stressed or not, digestion is the thing that is most supportive or destructive, depending on whether it is working or not. Eat raw fruit 20 minutes before each meal, take  teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a little water 15 minutes before each meal, chew your food lots and enjoy it fully. Seek peace with everyone and everything and yourself in your heart before you take a bite and stay that way or stop eating until you regain it.
Dr. Young: Emphasizing alkalizing is always the funciton of the alimentary canal. The digestive system is an alkalizing buffering system by secreting sodium bicarbonate from all glands throughout the canal from the mouth to the rectum. The food and liquids you ingest cannot be transformed into healthy stem cells in the crypts of the small intestine unless liquified and alkalized to a pH of over 8.
Kal: vi. Keep your body nourished and clean with live foods and at least seasonal cleansing. Eat a wide spectrum of healthy food and eat with the seasons as much as possible.
Dr. Young: To live a long and healthy life, eat only alkaline food, drink only electron rich alkaline water, and take only alklaizing supplements. Remember to exercise for one hour daily in order to remove connective tissue and interstitial acids out through the pores of the skin, the lungs and the urinary system.
Kal: vii. Understand that the advantage to using whole, live herbs, instead of isolated supplements for your alkalizing and cleaning is that they will generally allo w the natural oscillation to continue to take place.
Dr. Young: Understand that using alkaline foods, drinks and supplements will help to maintain the alkaline design of the body and will imporve the quality and quantity of life.

Kal: The conclusion, then, is that there are no diseases, under normal conditions, that are the product of one’s pH being too high. Having said that, there are a few principles to discuss in connection with this that will help us care for our health more wisely.
Dr. Young: There are no normal conditions when one is in a state of “latent tissue acidosis.” I respectively disagree with your conclusions. Where is your scientific evidence to support your theory. But, I have scientific evidence. In fact, the evidence is shown in the saliva pH which is an indicator of alkaline reserves of the body and the urine pH which is an indicator of tissue pH. The blood is always constant at 7.365. The scientific evidence is achieved by measuring the pH of sick people and giving these sick people alkalizing treatment and then noting the change in the blood and tissue. It is done by doing daily saliva and urine pH measurements, weekly CBC’s, cholesterol panels, liver panels, blood cancer tests, blood glucose testing, chemistry panels, and MRI’s and/or Pet scans.
The proof is in the pudding and the pudding is in the alkaline pH of the blood and tissues.
Kal: Principle 1: Sudden alkaline shock
Kal: Sudden alkaline shock is what some professionals create when treating cancer. The healer might put the person on a program that includes several very important things, but one of those is sudden alkaline shock where the alkalizing foods and herbs and habits result in such a dramatic shift upward in pH that the body goes too alkaline and often starts to oscillate.
Dr. Young: There is no such thing as “alkaline shock.” There is such a thing called “acidic shock” and is expressed by negative health symptoms and an acidic urine and saliva pH. When you start the hyper-alkalizing process the body now has the resources to reverse the excess tissue acidosis. This is a good thing. The only shock when hyper-alkalizing is coming from the acid being released from the tissues not the base chemicals introduced to release and buffer the acids from the tissues.
Kal: By oscillate, I mean that the body becomes extremely alkaline and then overcompensates back to acidic and then, because of the alkaline program, it goes to extreme alkaline again. This is vital to get the body’s immune system to clear out all cancer (well, also what we think can cure cancer almost immediately). The immune system functions higher when the body is slightly acidic and the extreme alkaline moments actually reduce the size and virulence of the cancer. Many healers seem to use this system very effectively for treating cancer.
Dr. Young: How are you measuring this oscillation? There is an oscillation of alkalinity and acidic which I refer to as the ebb and tide of tissue, urine and saliva pH. I measure this oscillation in the blood and tissues daily with pH Hydrion paper. The most important time to measure the pH of the tissues is in the morning. You should measure the morning pH each morning. The morning pH is a measurement of your lifestyle and dietary choice from the day before. If your urine pH is below 7.2 then you are in “latent tissue acidosis” and you need to make changes in your lifestyle, diet and supplementation. You need to start living, eating and thinking alkaline. You need to increase your alkaline mineral salts. I would suggest taking each night before bed 1 scoop of pHour salts in 3 to 4 ounces of water to help buffer the dietary and/or acids of the day. In the morning you will see the alkalizing result and feel the alkalizing benefits.

When you start hyperalkalizing, you start the removal of acids. The immune system shuts down and becomes paralyzed in an acidic environment. You can shut the immune system down for up to 5 hours with just a glass of acidic orange juice. When you start alkalizing, the white blood cells become active again. You can do this with alkaline water with a pH of 9.5 or with 1 scoop of pHour salts in 3 to 4 ounces of purified water which dilutes the acid that is paralyzing the white blood cells. The benefits are immediate and can be seen in the live blood with the re-activation of the white blood cells.
Kal: This can be induced unwisely on certain health programs and accidentally in certain situations.
Dr. Young: It is apparent you are confusing hyper-alkalinity with the release of acids from the tissues.
Kal: For example, I took a small group on a healing and meditation retreat into the high mountains of Wyoming. We camped at 10 or 11 thousand feet and made day hikes up as high as 12 thousand 3 hundred feet.
Dr. Young: Hiking requires energy which produces acids which requires adequate alkalinity to buffer those acids or you will get sick and/or tired. Also, elevations of 10 to 11 thousand feet are acidic because they are deficient in alkalizing oxygen. This kind of hike would require hyperalkalzation of alkaline compounds such as sodium bicarbonate and sodium chlorite to increase alkalinity and oxygen into the blood.

Kal: While there, we drank only spring water coming from a glacier right above the lake we camped near.
Dr. Young: All glacier water, at best, has a neutral pH of around 7. All the glacier water I have tested is slightly acidic. Glacier water would not be adequate for alkalizing and oxygenating the blood and tissues for a hike up to 10 or 11 thousand feet.
Kal: In addition to this, we took along a totally raw selection of fruit (limes) and some totally raw energy bars that were highly alkalizing and healing; you can find the recipes on (www.KalsSchool.com) on the downloads page — available to registered users.
Dr. Young: I do not know of any raw energy bars that are alkaline. Most of them contain natural sugars which are all highly acidic. Sugar is acid and acid is sugar by whatever name you call it. Sugar in any form has similar side-effects in the blood and tissues much like the side-effects of cocaine. In addition Kal your recipes are acid forming. In response to food acid load, 36% of the H+ or proton goes intracellular in exchange for the release of Na+ (sodium) into the blood stream. 15% of the acid goes intracellular in exchange for K+ (potassium) – common in diabetics. 6% of the H+ or proton or acid goes directly into the cell to be buffered by intracellular processes. 43% is buffered extracellularly as NaHCO3- or sodium bicarbonate combining with H+ or proton or acid to form H2CO3 or carbonic acid which breaks down to CO2 or carbon dioxide to be released by the lungs. 10% of CO2 or carbon dioxide is excreted through the lungs and 90% is used by the body to reabsorb alkaline minerals and make sodium bicarbonate or NaHCO3.
The biochemistry is: CO2 + H2O + NaCl = NaH2CO3 = HCO3 + HCL.
Kal: Being an herbalist, I also planned for us to eat lots of the wild greens along the way.
Dr. Young: Eating lots of wild greens will help your blood, but it will not provide the extra electrons and alkalinity needed for a strenuous hike.
Kal: While this sounds like a pretty good program, it actually had one serious drawback — the fact that we would all get stuck in extreme alkaline shock. Because of the spring water, which was, itself, extraordinarily alkaline, we got stuck in alkaline and could not get back to acidic. Further, alkaline water does not hydrate well and we had gone to a much higher altitude where we needed more hydration help, not less.
Dr. Young: Kal, this is not even close to a pretty good program. In fact your program is perfect for getting stuck in extreme ‘acidic shock.” The water you were drinking was not alkalizing to the blood tissues. The energy bars you were eating were acidic. The sugary acidic fruit you were eating was also acidic. You were at higher elevation with less oxygen which is also acidic. You were not drinking high alkaline, oxygen rich, electron rich water. You were not drinking or eating enough greens to compensate for the energy it took to climb the mountain. You flat out did not alkalize the blood and tissues and you became over-acidic from your so-called healing and mediation retreat. You and our group were experiencing to a lesser or greater degree “acidic shock.”
Kal: The consequence was weakness and extreme dehydration. We had not thought to bring along a watermelon or distilled water or some vinegar even, to make for a slightly acidic hydration source. We just cavalierly kept drinking from the spring and doing half a dozen other things to make ourselves alkaline.
Dr. Young: The weakness and dehydration are both symptoms of tissue acidosis and caused by a deficiency of alkalinity. This also happens when you over exercise. It is called lactic tissue acidosis and is experienced by the symptom of pain. This lactic tissue acidosis can be removed with increased hydration with alkaline water or a shot of pHour salts in 3 to 4 ounces of water. The best athletes in the world do this.

Kal: This was unwise and made it hard to make the trek down the mountain! When we got home we ate large amounts of watermelon and were hydrated in just a few hours.
Dr. Young: You went home and had some acidic sugary watermelon which is no better then if you had drank a sports drink or had a cup of coffee and stimulated the body back into feeling better. It is all an illusion when you are stimulating the body into feeling good. All you did with the ingestion of the sugary watermelon was stimulate the body into feeling good. You didn’t do anything to help the body recover from the symptoms of over-acidity and you ended up probably taking months or possibly even years off the life of some of the team.
Kal: Sometimes, acidity is quite necessary for survival and over alkalinity can be a hazard. Even in serious illness, it is important for the body to be able to regain a slightly acidic state in order for the immune system to function well.
Dr. Young: The immune system is poisoned by acids and shuts down in its presence. Acids kill; alkalinity heals. It is that simple.
Kal: This is the natural way of things. Most of the time the body stays alkaline, but it is easy to switch back to acidic because there are no unnatural or extreme alkaline agents in the body. The body will switch to acidic to clean up, to kill invaders, to rapidly hydrate, to kill cancer, to heal rapidly, to deal with threats and so forth.
Dr. Young: The body will do everything it can to maintain its alkaline design. The only time the body becomes over-acid is from poor lifestyle and dietary choice. Also Kal, cancer is not something you kill. It is not a cell. It is toxic acid from environment, diet and/or metabolism. And eating watermelon, other sugary energy bars, and sugary acidic fruit speed up the process of acidic or cancerous tissue. It is one in the same. You cannot hydrate yourself with acid. Hydration has to be done with alkaline fluids or you force the body cells to biologically transform into bacteria and/or yeast. I have done this experiment over and over again with the blood. As the blood fluids become more and more acidic, this causes the cells to biologically transform or change to bacteria, then yeast and finally mold. Vinegar is a strong toxic acid and destroys body cells and compromises the delicate pH balance of the blood and tissues. Vinegar is the urine of ferm entation and when added to the blood it destroys it. The body uses its own hemoglobin to buffer acids. This is why people become anemic. The body releases alkaline buffers such as sodium bicarbonate, hemoglobin, and oxygen radicals, such as SO-. HO- and H2O2, in order to neutralize the toxic effects of dietary and/or metabolic acid to preserve the alkaline design of the body.

Kal: On a side note, I often wonder if perhaps we would all be better off if the whole pH discussion (and many others) had only taken place in a few alternative healing schools where they used it as a test to help them create health plans for their clients without telling them anything new to worry about or mess up.
Dr. Young: Proper and correct acid/base biochemistry is not being taught in ANY school. All levels of education needs to teach the principals of acid/base biochemistry with the foundational premise that the human, animal and plant body are all alkaline by design and acidic by function.
The iso-structure of the blood maintains the pH of the blood by pushing off the dietary and/or metabolic acids into the connective tissue. The blood gives to the urine the same amount of acid that it receives from the tissues and liver so it retains its iso-form. A base or alkaline deficiency is always related to the deterioration of the deposit ability of the connective tissues. As long as the iso-structure of the blood is maintained, the urine, which originates from the blood, remains a faithful reflected image of the acid-base regulation, not of the blood, but of the tissues. The urine therefore is an excretion product of the tissues not the blood. So when you are testing the pH of the urine you are testing the pH of the tissues. So, when your urine pH is over 7.2 then the body tissues are alkaline and healthy. When the pH of the urine is below 7.2 then the body tissues are acidic and unhealthy.
Also, when you are testing the saliva pH you are testing the potential for alkalizing. What I mean is the saliva pH is like your gas gauge in your car telling you how much gas you have. When you saliva pH is 7.2 or higher you are full of alkalinity in your alklophile glands. If your saliva pH is below 7.2 you are deficient in alkaline minerals and need to fill up with alkalizing food, drink and mineral supplements, like pHour and pHlavor salts.

Kal: Some people just mess up anything they have the chance to think about. Fixing this human failing requires learning that you can be wrong and still be loved; that you can take fine care of your experience of life; that you are lovable whether you get it right or not.
Dr. Young: Unfortunately acid/base biochemistry is not being taught correctly in allopathic or alternative schools. Kal I respectively disagree with your assestment here.
Medical doctors and other savants do not recognize “latent tissue acidosis.” They recognize compensated acidosis and decompensated acidosis. In compensated acidosis breathing increases in order to blow off more carbonic acid which decreases PCO2 because of the lowered carbonate or HCO3. When the breathing rate can no longer get any faster and when the kidneys can no longer increase their function to keep up with the acid load from an acidic meal or over-exercise or even too much emotional stress, then the blood pH starts to change from a pH of 7.365 to 7.3 then to 7.2. At a blood pH of 7.1 (still in an alkaline state) the heart relaxes and the client goes into a coma and then dies.
There is a daily rhythm or oscilation to this acid base, ebb and flow of the fluids of the body. The stored acids are mobilized from the connective tissues and Pishinger’s spaces while we sleep.
These acids reach their maximum (base tide) concentration in this fluid, and thereby the urine at 2am is the most acidic. The acid content of the urine directly reflects the acid content of the fluid in the Pishinger’s spaces, the extracellular fluid compartments of the body. On the other hand the Pishinger’s spaces become most alkaline around 2pm (the base flood) as then the most sodium bicarbonate or NaHCO3 is being generated by the cover cells of the stomach to alkalize the food and drink we have ingested.
If your urine is not alkaline by 2pm you are definitely in an ACIDIC condition and lacking in alkaline reserves necessary to maintain the alkaline design of the body. This is when sickness and dis-ease is eminent. The ideal pH of the urine should run between 7.2 and 8.4 and can by maintain at optimum by supplementing mineral salts such as pHlavor and phour salts.

Kal: Unfortunately, the love of many has “waxed cold” to quote a very old scriptural prophecy about our time. The result has been that love is not felt or really given, in the sense of absolute love. We do not share and impress that love in kindness, self-restraint, discipline, effort and trust in each other in the life experience.
Well, let me get back to the point.
Dr. Young: There is another quote in ancient scripture found in the Bible, “My people perish from lack of knowledge.” What we are dealing with here is a bad case of ignorance or lack of knowledge.
Kal: Theoretically, if one gets too alkaline, there will be as much malfunction as when someone gets too acidic.
Dr. Young: If the body somehow COULD get too alkaline, that might be true. But we will never know, because it can’t. All malfunctions in the body are a result of the body dealing with excess acidity in the tissue and where and how to eliminate it. The body has four channels to eliminate dietary and/or metabolic acids – the skin, bowels, urinary tract, and the lungs. When the body, and specifically the blood, cannot remove the excess acid fast enough, then the blood throws the acid out into the connective tissue. It then becomes the job of the lymphatic system to remove these acids through perspiration, respiration and/or through urination. If one is steteching, deep breathing and sweating from exercise then many of these acids taken up into the connective tissues will be removed from the connective tissue and eliminated. If not then the body suffers from connective tissue disorders and aches and pains – all caused by excess tisssue acidity while t he blood can still be balanced at and alkaline pH of 7.365.
Kal: From a purely theoretical standpoint, one could stop metabolizing key nutrients if they are too alkaline. One could experience their blood not carrying oxygen if too alkaline. One certainly could fail to get hydrated or use water efficiently if too alkaline. These are theoretical possibilities, however, not empirical realities.
Dr. Young: Kal, I respectively disagree. The body does not stop metabolism when alkalizing or hyper-alkalizing. My 30 years of blood research indicates the opposite effect. When you alkalize the body buffers the acids that cause the blood to stick together causing oxygen deprivation and the blood can then flow freely delivering its oxygen to the tissues. When you alkalize with akaline water with a pH of 9.5 the blood and tissues become more hydrated not less hydrated.
All anatomical elements that make up the DNA of the organized cell are the prey of life and energy. The result of this is biological acidic waste products which require alkaline mineral salts and alkaline water to buffer and eliminate.
Hyperalkaization and hyper-hydration help to bind up excess acids and the increased alkaline water helps to remove these acids through the four channels of elimination. You have to have alkaline fluids to move acidic toxins. If not, it turns to catarrah. The lymphatic system begins to bog down and congest. And the result is sickness and disease. No theory here. This is exactly what happens.
Kal: here are four key reasons for this:
Kal: 1. Stress is the middle name of just about everyone in modern society. Stress always results in immediate pH lowering to a more acidic state.
Dr. Young: Stress requires energy and energy leaves acidic residues which need to be eliminated through the four channels of elimination or it will be buffered with alkaline chemicals produced by the body and stored in the connective and fatty tissues. This is the way the alkaline blood pH is maintained while the fluids of the tissues become acidic.
Kal: 2. Sickess results in immune response which results in a state similar to stress, where the blood gets thinner and more active and more acidic.
Dr. Young: Acid causes All sickness and disease. The body has white blood cells to clean up the fluids of the body. WBCs are the garbage collection service, not an army of soldiers that go out to war against some invading micro-organism. This is a Pasteurian illusion. Germs do not cause disease but are the biologcial transformations of body cells affected by dietary and/or metabolic acidic waste. In addition, the blood never gets acidic except in decompensated acidosis which is the deficiency of alkaline mineral salts or alkaline buffers. When the blood pH hits 7.1 (slightly akaline pH) in decompensated acidosis you go into acidic shock or even a coma. Sickness is a result of tissue acidosis or “latent tissue acidosis” not blood acidosis. It never happens. The body won’t let it happen. In fact, after death, the blood is still alive and functioning. It is the body that dies from acidosis, not the blood, and the blood will still remain in an alkalin e state for many hours after death. That is why some people who die have come back to talk about it. Death is the separation of the spirit body and the physical body which is held together by alkaline mineral salts which are the glue of life.

Kal: 3. Modern diet and the toxic world around us tends to create clutter in the blood and diminish the blood’s ability to carry nutrients. This inefficient state of the blood will inevitably result in the body becoming more acidic to try to speed the nutrient flow to vital organs.
Dr. Young: Kal, I respectively disagree. The clutter in the blood is caused by acidic lifestyle and dietary choice. Also, the blood is the life of all flesh, not the nutrient. The blood is the foundational cell, not the nutrient. The inefficient state of the blood is a result of acidic lifestyle and dietary choice. The blood purifies itself through elimination of toxic acidic waste via the four channels of elimination. If these channels of elimination are congested, then the toxic acidic waste goes to the connective tissue which are the acid catchers of the blood. When this starts to happen, this is when tissues and organs start to breakdown.
Kal: 4. All known diseases today exist only when there is a pH that is slightly lower (more acidic) than ideal. This means that no known disease occurs that is experienced while being too alkaline.
Dr. Young: There are no dis-ease or diseases in an alkaline state. All disease is a result of excess acids not properly eliminated through urination, perspiration, defecation or respiration. When the interstitial fluids of the body are acidic, this causes the symptoms of irritation, then to inflammation, then to ulceration and finally to degeneration – all stages of tissue acidosis that leads to death.
Kal: There are two more things that should be noticed about this before going on:
Kayl First, if someone wanted to sabotage the health of the world it would be a crafty trick to put things into the environment that would cause rapid shift to the too alkaline state. We are not well prepared to handle this. Of course, as soon as people became afraid of dying from it, our blood would shift right back to acid and we would be healed!
Dr. Young: That would be like saying if we increase the oxygen state of the atmosphere which has been declining for centuries, this would make us all sick. I have been administarting high pH water to 10’s of 1000’s of people around the world with only beneficial results. The fact is that when we “hyper or over-alkalize” people they get healthier, not sick. They lose excess weight. They have more energy. The skin improves. All organ functions improve. Acid DOES NOT HEAL, it KILLS. It destroys. You cannot heal with the waste products of life. That would be like treating an engine problem of your car with its carbon monoxide acidic waste product. This is what the medical community is trying to do with acidic antibiotics and many drugs made from the acidic urine of mold and yeast. Antibiotics are against life and compromise the delicate pH balance of the blood and tissues. Good idea to put alkanity into the atmosphere but more of the wrong reasons.
Kal: Second, the reality of being too alkaline (pH too high) would exist as the product of, not the cause of, a disease. Certain malfunctions in the body buffering systems (designed to keep the pH stable and healthy) could result in a too alkaline state. Such a state would not be the cause, however, but the outcome.
Dr. Young: How are you measuring this over alkalization? You never mention in your article how you determine a state of over-alkalinity or a state of over-acidity. Anyone who is sick has an acidic urine pH and an acidic saliva pH. This is an indication of an acidic lifestyle and diet and “latent tissue acidosis.” If you force alkalinity into the tissue then you will see the urine pH go from acid to alkaline. This is done through the blood because the blood maintains its delicate pH as it throws off the excess alkalinity into the tissues buffering the acids that are causing the dis-ease or disease in the first place and reversing the acidic tissue fluid condtion or “latent tissue acidosis.”

The following is an interview of herbalist Kal Sellers on his understanding of acid/base biochemistry. Kal has postulated a theory that you can over-alkalize pushing your body pH dangerously too high. His theory is contained in the following interview and his explanation of how over-alkalizing can be harmful to health. I have commented after each of his statements to help people better understand my research and experience on acid/base biochemistry, the “New Biology”, using hyper alkalization in the treatment of dis-ease and disease and the need to maintain the alkaline design of the body.

Kal: This question has appeared from time to time and calls for a visit in the news of today: Can our body’s pH be too alkaline? A friend of mine who helps run a very good health food store near me reported that she had been raw and had been alkaline for some time when a person approached her and warned her that “there were diseases that could come from being too alkaline too.”
Dr. Young: There are NO dis-ease or diseases associated with being too alkaline. You cannot be sick and alkaline. In fact, what does it mean to be too alkaline? How does a person measure the acid/base of the blood when the blood is always maintaining its delicate pH balance at 7.365? Any excess acidity from diet or metabolism is eliminated from the blood and out into the connective tissues to preserve its delicate pH balance. The biochemistry in maintaining blood alkalinity is quite extreme. The body will sacrifice all other organs and organ systems to maintain the delicate pH balance of the blood at 7.365. Sodium bicarbonate is produced by the body as the #1 buffer of dietary and/or metabolic acid to maintain the alkalinity of the blood and then the tissues. In the body, tt takes 20 molecules of sodium bicarbonate to buffer or neutralize 1 part of carbonic acid (metabolite of metabolism) in order to maintain a blood and/or tissue pH of 7.35 to 7. 4. That is staggering 20 to 1 ratio. You would have to do some serious alkalizing just to keep up with the body’s need for more alkalinity. But that is why we age–or should I say “ferment” from over-acidity. Which by the way, I might add, is why ALL disease or most dis-ease is a result of excess acid and NOT excess base(alkalinity). This was proven by Alexis Carrel in his chicken experiment in 1908. Carrel received a Nobel prize for this research. He was able to keep a chicken heart alive for 20 years until he decided to stop changing the alkaline mineral salts every 48 hours. What we learn from Alexis Carrel’s work is that you can keep the body cells alive indefinitely if you maintain the alkaline mineral salts daily. The health of human cells that make up tissues and organs are only as healthy as the alkaline fluids in which they are bathed. The human cell cannot tolerate low alkalinity and can never tolerate ANY acid condition. The cell begins its biological transformati on becoming bacteria in the first stage; then yeast in the second stage; then mold in the 3rd stage of transformation until the anatomical elements of the organized cell (microzymas) are released to become part of some other organized cell.
In the ph Miracle book I share what I call the “fish bowl metaphor.” The fish bowl metaphor begins with a question. The question is this; “If the fish is sick what would you do, treat the fish or change the water?” The logical answer is, you would change the water. Why? Because the fish is only as healthy as the water it swims in. The fish is the human cell and the water is the fluids around the cell(s). The ocean has a delicate pH balance of 8.3 and is maintain by alkaline mineral salts. Our internal fluids are like the ocean and are maintained by the same alkaline mineral salts – sodium, chloride, magnesium, potassium and calcium. At the present the ocean pH because of global warming has gone from 8.3 to 8.2. This huge decrease in the ocean pH has caused potential health risks to all sea life including the loss of the coral reefs. The same thing is happening to many of us with body warming, as dietary and/or metabolic acids are causing the loss of bone and muscle in order t o maintain the delicate alkaline pH of the blood and tissues. The result is an array of health challenges from arthritis, osteoporosis to cancer.
Kal: She experienced something I have taught a lot about, concerning how much our thinking affects our health. She immediately became acidic (without changing anything) and has stayed acidic since that time.
Dr. Young: Good point Kal. I agree with you here. Thoughts require energy and when you are using energy you are producing metabolic acids. If you want to maintain the alkaline design of the body, you need to have less thoughts. I have said that people do not die from a heart attack they die from a thought attack. Both involve metabolic acid. The bottom line is that hyper-alkalizing the blood and the tissues leads to wonderful side effect: you get healthy physically and mentally, even when you are stressed.
Kal: This calls for a questioning of the issue to see if we really should be cautioning anyone to not get too alkaline.
Dr. Young: Of course you should counsel your clients to try and become increasingly alkaline. It’s almost impossible to become too alkaline. If you are living, breathing, thinking and eating, then you are producing acids that can and will affect your health, fitness and vitality. Everyday the body produces more acids then the body can keep up with. Metabolism of a normal adult diet results in the generation of 50 to 100 meq of H+ or proton or acid per day, which must be excreted if the alkaline acid-base balance is to be maintained. A meq is a milliequivalent which is an expression of concentration of substance per liter of solution, calculated by dividing the concentration in milligrams per 100 milliliters by the molecular weight. This process involves two basis steps; 1) the reabsorption of the filtered sodium bicarbonate or NaHCO3 and, 2) excretion of the 50 to 100 meq of H+ or proton or acid produced each day by the formation of titratable aci dity and NH4+ or ammonium. Both steps involve H+ or proton or acid secretion from the cells of the kidney into the urine. That is why we age. Aging is actually a fermenting and acidic process. The body has an alkaline buffering system which helps to maintain alkalinity, but when this becomes compromised from an over acidic lifestyle and diet, you start having the symptoms of dis-ease and disease caused by metabolic acidic waste products. So, absolutely you should attempt to increase alkalinity to prevent and/or reverse dis-ease and disease.
Kal: My first step in such searching is to ask myself the question: What does nature suggest? Clearly, we have the physiology and digestion of frugivores and, as such, should be enjoying a delightfully alkaline state in our blood most of the time.
Dr. Young: We should be enjoying a delightfully alkaline sate in our blood and tissues ALL of the time Kal if we want to be free from ALL sickness, dis-ease and disease. The blood is always trying to maintain health and alkaline balance in the blood and tissues at 7.365 to 7.4 pH. The body will do everything it can to maintain that alkalinity. It will pull in calcium from the bones and/or magnesium from the tissues in order to keep the pH of the blood constant. All organs and organ systems are subservient to the blood. When the blood is becoming too alkaline or compensated, it is the result of the blood trying to protect itself from an increase of dietary and/or metabolic acid as the excess acid is thrown out into the connective tissue. So the increase of blood pH is an indication of an increase of tissue pH which I call “latent tissue acidosis.” “Latent tissue acidosis” is the condition that exists when there are not enough bases in the alkalophi le glands and organs (the alkalophile glands are the stomach, pancreas, Brunner’s glands, between the pylorus and the junctions of the bile and pancreatic ducts, Lieberkuhn’s glands in the liver and its bile with its strong acid binding capabilities which it has to produce to alkalize the ingested food or drink) because they have been used up in the process of neutralizing the acids adsorbed and then absorbed to the collagen fibers. This leads to compensated “acidosis.” This means the blood pH has not changed but other body systems have changed. This can then lead to decompensated “acidosis” where the alkaline reserves of the body are used up and the pH of the blood is altered. Decompensated “acidosis” can be determined by testing the blood pH, urine pH and the saliva pH. The decrease in the alkaline reserves in the body occurs because of hyper-proteinization, (eating steak, chicken, turkey, pork and fish!) too much protein and hyper-carbonization, too much sugar of all kind s in all forms. This is why 80 to 90 year old folks are all shrunk up and look like prunes. They have very little or no alkaline reserves in their alkalophile glands. When all the alkaline minerals are gone, so are you and your life battery runs down. The charge of your cellular battery can be measured testing the ORP or the oxidative reduction potential of the blood, urine and saliva using an ORP or electron meter. As you become more acidic this energy potential or ORP decreases. When electron or energy potential decreases you feel tired and fatigued and begin to feel the symptoms of dis-ease.
This increase in acidity comes from acidic lifestyle and dietary choices and is a good example of how the blood tries to protects itself. This increase in alkalinity in the blood over 7.4 is a sure sign of acids in the tissues and a risk of developing an inflammatory or cancerous condition. The tissue acidosis can be determined by measuring the urine pH which should be at least 7.2 or higher in a healthy alkaline state or in a state of sickness or disease the pH should be over 8.4 and as high at 9.5. But when the body is in a state of “latent tissue acidosis,” the pH of the urine will be in the low 6’s and 5’s. Therefore the urine becomes the measuring stick for the pH of the tissues and not of the blood for determining the alkaline or acidic state of the body.
Kal: The foods we would eat in a natural setting would leave us with an alkaline pH and in cultures where they do not know about checking and worrying about their pH, they tend to stay pretty alkaline if they are eating a natural diet and living a lifestyle close to nature.
Dr. Young: In my research I found that all cultures are living in an acidic state. If you were to be able to keep your blood and tissues in an alkaline state you would never die. Just like Alexis Carrel’s chicken heart. All foods, whether in a natural setting or not, contain acidic residues to a lesser or greater degree and must be buffered by the body’s production of sodium bicarbonate. That is why we will ALL eventually die. The alkaline buffering system which includes the salivary glands, the stomach, pancreas, Brunner’s glands (between the pylorus and the junctions of the bile and pancreatic ducts) Lieberkuhn’s glands in the liver and its bile all release sodium bicarbonate to buffer the acids of food and drink we ingest. It is important understand that the stomach is the main organ for alkalizing the food or liquids that we ingest and to understand that it manufactures sodium bicarbonate to increase the alkalinity of the food in preparation f or the food to be biologically transformed into stem cells in the crypts of the small intestine. The parietal or cover cells of the stomach split the sodium chloride of the blood. The sodium is used to bind with water and carbon dioxide to form the alkaline salt, sodium bicarbonate or NaHCO3. The biochemistry is: H20 + CO2 + NaCl = NaHCO3 + HCL.
For each molecule of sodium bicarbonate or NaHCO3 made in the stomach a molecule of hydrochloric acid or HCL is also made and secreted into the digestive system or stomach (the hydrochloric acid settles into the gastric pits of the stomach while the sodium bicarbonate naturally rises to the surface of the stomach to meet the food for alkalizing) to be eliminated.
The chloride ion from the sodium chloride (salt) binds to an acid or proton forming hydrochloric acid or HCL as a waste product of sodium bicarbonate production.
When large amounts of acids including HCL enter the stomach from a rich protein meal, acid is withdrawn from the acid-base household. The organism would die if the resulting alkalosis or sodium bicarbonate – NaHCO3 (base flood) or base surplus created by the stomach was not taken up by the alkalophile glands that need these quick bases in order to build up their strong sodium bicarbonate secretions. These glands and organs are the stomach, pancreas, Brunner’s glands (between the pylorus and the junctions of the bile and pancreatic ducts) Lieberkuhn’s glands in the liver and its bile with its strong acid binding capabilities which it has to produce to alkalize the ingested food or drink.
When a rich protein and/or carbohydrate meal is ingested the stomach begins to manufacture and secret sodium bicarbonate or NHCO3 to alkalize the acids from the food ingested. This causes a loss in the alkaline reserves and an increase in acid and/or HCL found in the gastric pits of the stomach. These acids and/or HCL are taken up by the blood which lowers blood plasma pH. The blood eliminates this increase in gastrointestinal acid by throwing it off into the Pishinger’s spaces or extra-cellular matrix.
The space enclosed by these finer and finer fibers is called the Pishinger’s space or the extra-cellular matrix space that contains the fluids that bath and feed each and every cell while carrying away the acidic waste from those same cells. There is no mention of this organ in American physiology text books. There is the extra cellular space but no organ mentioned that stores acids from metabolism and diet, like the kidney. I call extra-cellular matrix an organ and the “pre-kidney.”
After a rich protein and/or carbohydrate (sugary) meal, the urine pH becomes alkaline. Protein and sugar nourishment then reacts acidic in the organism not only by the production of sulfuric, phosporhoric, nitric, uric, lactic and acetylaldehyde acids, respectively, but also through the formation and excretion of base in the urine. This is a double loss of bases or alkalinity.
During heavy exercise, the resulting lactic acid if not adsorbed by the collagen fibers, the specific acid catchers of the body, the organism or body would die. The total collection of these fibers is the largest organ of the body and is called the colloidal connective tissue organ of SCHADE. NO liquid exchange occurs between the blood and the parenchyma cells, or in reverse, unless it passes through this connective tissue organ. This organ connects, holds everything in our bodies in place. This organ is composed of ligaments, tendons, sinew, and the finer fibers that become the scaffolding that holds every single cell in our bodies in place. When acids are stored in this organ, which includes the muscles, inflammation and pain develop. That is why I have stated, “acid is pain and pain is acid.” You cannot have one without the other. This is the beginning of “latent tissue acidosis” and the one sickness and one disease.
The more acidity, the more acids adsorbed and then absorb to the collagen fibers to be neutralized and the less sodium bicarbonate or NaHCO3 is taken up by the alkalophile glands. The larger the potential difference between the adsorbed and absorbed acids and the amount of sodium bicarbonate or NaHCO3 generated with each meal; the more or less alkaline or rich in bases are the alkalophile glands like the pancreas, gallbladder, pylorus glands, blood, etc. The acid binding power of the connective tissue, the blood and the alkalophile glands depends on its alkali reserve which can be determined through blood, urine, and saliva pH testing, including live and dried blood.
The measurement which best determines the alkaline reserves of the body is the saliva pH. When the saliva pH is above 7.2 then the alkaline reserves are sufficient. If the saliva pH is below 7.2 then the alkaline reserves are deficient and the body needs more alkaline food, drink and/or supplements, such as pHour salts, pHlavor salts and puripHy salts.

Once again the necessary ingredients to produce sodium bicarbonate in the stomach comes from the blood and include sodium, chloride, water, oxgyen and carbon. When these elements become deficient in the body from the lack of alkaline food, drink or mineral supplementation from diet, then you begin to get sick and tired. The first sign of acidosis is enervation and indicates a deficiency of alkalizing mineral salts in the blood and the beginning stages of “latent tissue acidosis.” “Latent tissue acidosis” can lead to compensated acidosis (pH goes up from a normal 7.365 to 7.4 and then to 7.5) which will eventually lead to decompensated acidosis where the pH drops from 7.5 to 7. 2. This is a sure sign that the body is deficient in alkaline mineral salts and the body is shuting down. The solution for “latent tissue acidosis,” compensated acidosis and decompensated acidosis is to hyper-alkalize the blood to push alkainity out into the tissue to re-establish the alkaline design of the body.
Any excess alkalinity in the blood, in the stomach, in the connective tissues, or in the interstitial fluids is used to buffer acids. You can’t get enough of these alkaline compounds to buffer the onslaught of environmental, dietary and/or metabolic acids. The body is always deficient in alkalinity. That is the cause of enervation, irritation, inflammation, induration, ulceration and degeneration. There is no other cause than ACID! When you stop breathing, you stop producing the acid of carbon dioxide. Everyone knows that you can hold your breath and pass out or even die from the absence of the alkalizing effects of oxygen and the build up of carbon dioxide acid in the blood and tissues. When your heart stops beating you stop producing acid. When your brain stops having thoughts you stop producing acid. After 30 years of blood research I have found that you are alkaline by design but all body functions are acidic and this is why it is humanly impossible to become too alkaline !

Life is a journey and now I’m going to tell about my own journey and why it led me to the pH Miracle
I was raised in the countryside where I learned to know what is right and wrong by experiencing and evaluating. I became an individual with a common sense.
I was interested in nature and it gave me everything I needed (and still does). That’s why I studied biology and chemistry at the University. By coincidence I hung into pharmaceutical industry without any earlier experience/understanding about it. I have now been working there for 25 years with 23 years in oncology (cancer care) therapy area. The latest years with opinion leaders mainly.
During these years I learned a lot about cancer and met both patients (patient organizations) and doctors. In the congresses I was wondering why numbers and statistics pay such a big role. Etiology of cancer was described in a way I couldn’t accept. When I discussed this with doctors they told me that it doesn’t indicate an individual patient but is true on a population level. However many patients felt quilty and claimed themselves. Connection between body-mind-spirit was not presented because in medicine (and all natural sciences) everything has to be measured before you can believe on it.
In clinical trials, treatment guidelines and even in golden standards there is a hypothesis (set years ago) where diagnosis, prognosis and treatments accordantly are based on and nobody ever criticizes it. The hypothesis gets variations according to the treatment/drug which is in case.
Big Pharma is financing most of the clinical trials and cancer care is the fastest growing business segment of all therapy areas. Signal transduction, viral vaccinations in cancer etc., new molecules are worth tens of thousands per month. Imaging technique finds the smallest lesions and the cure is more aggressive and lasts longer. Both older and newer treatment protocols have side-effects and a variation of medication is needed to avoid those.
The following is how I got personally involved into cancer and had to re-evaluate my values.
My own experience about the cancer is strong – I was devastated as I thought that I’ll never get cancer because I’m so healthy.. However I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 and had surgery (local resection; lumpectomy) and radiotherapy. Within the first year there wasn’t a day when I didn’t think about my cancer.
A couple of years later I lost my voice. Diagnosis was Dysphonia Spasmoides (SD), the most severe voice disorder.. I was offered Botox to my vocal cords, I didn’t accept it after having red Cochrane Library -results about Botox and it’s efficacy in treating SD. This was the first time my eyes were clearly opened. Why were doctors are offering Botox in the whole world without being able to show clear evidence.
I analyzed my way of living and came to the conclusion that breathing is my problem and it causes my SD plus emotional stress, inbalance in general.
I travelled to Tampa to a voice rehabilitation course and learned that breathing is very sensitive when a person is facing a crisis. Keeping breath to stop more worries to come. And like Pavlov’s dog you learn in which situations this is needed and soon it becomes a habit.
Body-mind-spirit arouse as a key to my life in theory but not in practise. That’s why…
After being disease-free for six years from breast cancer an inner voice (unconsciousness) said: go to MRI. And so the recurrence of my breast cancer was found as two metastases in the same breast area. I understood that now it is not curable any more. I was offered chemotherapy and endocrine therapy for the rest of my life after that. I started chemo as I had learned that it is necessary in these advanced cases.
This period of time was a real chaos. I was reading scientific articles about my prognosis and this knowledge nearly killed me. I told my family members and friends that I wont’ live so long.
At the same time I got some strange strength to change my attitude. I was reading a lot and found out that the biggest wisdom is lying just in the crisis. I learned that the universe leads us and we have to follow whatsoever happens.
My affirmation at that time (and still is) was:
In each moment and everywhere I have everything I need. I’m in the right place of my life doing the work, which I like most. I can use all my talents and use them right. On everything I do God is guiding me and giving inspiration. I think, speak and act as is right. I enjoy my life and make other people enjoy their lives. I am creative and active, looking for the data and seeking the truth.
I used chemo for one cycle and was gathering information on other options. Found out that chemo in itself causes acidosis and oxidative stress, which according to my understanding is the cause of my cancer. So I wanted to stop it. I got hormone therapy instead as I’d learned that oestrogen is the bad thing and should be eliminated. I used hormones for two months and stopped using them as well because strange things started to happen.
I had found something interesting from the Internet and met a person who I knew is doing microscopic blood analysis. This is what I’ve been looking for and didn’t hesitate. I contacted Dr. Young and we agreed that I would travel immediately to his ranch and can have nutrition plus microscopic analysis training at the same time.
I met this person, Dr Young, who belongs to the 0.1% of persons who can fly as a wild bird, free, but knowing where he is going to. As I have noticed, there are persons who are highly educated though have no common sense, take the direction which is given. Persons who are intelligent, but through the whole world history intelligence can be used to false, even fatal purposes (Hitler, Stalin). Then: there is a tiny group of persons who have wisdom. It is to be seen as humanity, open mind, spiritual vision, awareness of the truth, love and care. Dr. Young is such a person, absolutely.
What he is teaching makes sense and is simple to understand. He says: there is only one physiological state of imbalance – the over-acidification of the body. He has documented this and shown in practice. I fully agree. Cause and effect relationship – this is needed as well as our own commitment to our well-being.
The secret of life is duality as Dr Young puts it. I have seen it in my life as well. You have to experience darkness before you find the light, feel unhappy before you understand what happiness means. Follow opinion leaders before you dare to take your own steps.
I have learned through my hard times the relativeness of things. Meaning of strong and weak varies. A person can look strong but is weak and vice versa. A person can be strong strong, strong weak, weak weak or weak strong. But weakness is the original strength.
Why I want to take weakness/strength – duality in this context? Because if you have a disease you are an object, seen as a weak link of the community. System (hospital, clinic, whatsoever) is taking the lead and you are suited into the needs of the system. It is not the purposeness, reliveness of your needs which is the driving force. At the pH Miracle Center this is different. You as the subject are actively taking part in your ‘destiny’.
‘Doctor managed perfect in the operation, but the patient died’; this is still true in many cases in medicine. Dr. Young’s approach is holistic and lasts as long as a person maintains the lifestyle.
Ecological footprint is commonly discussed nowadays. I’d like to raise a new footprint designed just for Dr. Young: Give a meaning for the Universe -footprint. (in this case big footprint is ideal). For me he has given the meaning – to help people to learn to know about the pH Miracle. And it’s my duty to the universe to do it. My own cancer is gone and I have found a new level of myself. Pleomorphism, Dr. Young’s clever idea, can happen in a human being as well. Unbalanced, unhappy without direction, with fear —> balanced, happy, with faith, aware of what, why and how. Ruin off the previous concepts if there is something better to be offered. There is now and I have ruined the previous ones.
To be or not to be – by Shakespeare. And, Shelley Young has said in other words prefer being instead of doing. Awareness and enlightenment. These two things I have experienced during my visit at the ranch. Each person from the personnel tells the same story about Dr. Young. His dedication, vision and open mind. And this is true. Wild bird flies.

Symptoms & Diseases Confused
“Disease or should we say Dis-ease names like cancer,
diabetes and osteoporosis are misleading and misinform
patients about dis-ease prevention.
There is a curious tendency in conventional medicine
to name a set of symptoms a disease. I was recently
at a compounding pharmacy having my bone mineral
density measured to update my health stats. I
spotted a poster touting a new drug for osteoporosis.
It was written by a drug company and it said
exactly this: ‘Osteoporosis is a disease that causes
weak and fragile bones.’ Then, the poster went on to
say that you need a particular drug to counteract this ‘disease.’
Yet the language is all backwards. Osteoporosis isn’t
a disease that causes weak bones, osteoporosis is
the name given to a diagnosis of weak bones. In other
words, the weak bones are the result of excess acidity,
and then the diagnosis of osteoporosis followed.
The drug poster makes it sound like osteoporosis
strikes first, and then you get weak bones. The
cause and effect is all backwards. And that’s
how drug companies want people to think about
diseases and symptoms: first you ‘get’ the dis-ease,
and then you are ‘diagnosed’ just in time to take
a new drug for the rest of your life.
But it’s all an illuision. There is no such
disease as osteoporosis. It’s just a made-up name
given to a pattern of symptoms that indicates
you are over-acid which causes your bones to
become fragile.
As another example, when a person follows an
unhealthy lifestyle that results in a symptom
such as high blood pressure, that symptom is
actually being assumed to be a disease all by
itself and it will be given a disease name.
What disease? The dis-ease is, of course,
‘hypertension’ or ‘high blood pressure.’
Doctors throw this phrase around as if it
were an actual dis-ease and not merely
descriptive of patient physiology.
This may all seem silly, right? But there’s
actually a very important point to all this.
When we look at symptoms and give them disease
names, we automatically distort the selection
of available treatments for such a dis-ease.
If the dis-ease is, by itself, hypercholesterolemia
or high cholesterol, then the cure for the dis-ease
must be nothing other than lowering the high
cholesterol. And that’s how we end up with all
these pharmaceuticals treating high cholesterol
in order to ‘prevent’ this dis-ease and lower
the levels of LDL cholesterol in the human patient.
By lowering only the cholesterol, the doctor can
rest assured that he is, in fact, treating this
‘disease,’ since the definition of this ‘disease’
is hypercholesterolemia or high cholesterol and
nothing else.
But there is a fatal flaw in this approach to
disease treatment: the symptom is not the cause
of the dis-ease. There is another cause, and
this deeper cause is routinely ignored by
conventional medicine, doctors, drug companies,
and even patients.
Let’s take a closer look at hypertension or
high blood pressure. What actually causes high
blood pressure? Many doctors would say high
blood pressure is caused by a specific, measurable
interaction between circulating chemicals in the
human body. Thus, the ill-behaved chemical
compounds are the cause of the high blood pressure,
and therefore the solution is to regulate these
chemicals. That’s exactly what pharmaceuticals
do — they attempt to manipulate the chemicals
in the body to adjust the symptoms of high blood
pressure. Thus, they only treat the symptoms,
not the root cause.
Or take a look at high cholesterol. The conventional
medicine approach says that high cholesterol is
caused by a chemical imbalance in the liver, which
is the organ that produces cholesterol. Thus the
treatment for high cholesterol is a prescription
drug that inhibits the liver’s production of
cholesterol (statin drugs). Upon taking these
drugs, the high cholesterol (the ‘disease’)
is regulated, but what was causing the liver to
overproduce cholesterol in the first place?
That causative factor remains ignored.
The root cause of high cholesterol, as it turns
out, is primarily an over acidic lifestyle and
diet. A person lives an acidic life or who eats
foods that are acidic will inevitably cause the
body to go into preservation mode and produce more
cholesterol to neutralize the excess acid thus
showing the symptoms of this so-called dis-ease
of high cholesterol. Its simple cause and effect.
Eat the wrong foods and don’t exercise, and you’ll
produce too much acid which will cause the body to
release cholesterol from the liver to bind up
that acid which can be detected and diagnosed by
conventional medical procedures. You see it is
not the cholesterol that is bad it is the acid
producing food we eat and the lack of exercise
that is bad. Reduce the acid producing foods
like beef, chicken, pork, dairy, coffee, tea,
soda pops, etc., and start exercising every day
and you will reduce the protective cholesterol
that is saving your life from acids that are
not being elimnated from an acidic lifestyle
and diet.
Yet the root cause of all this is actually poor
lifestyle and food choice, not some bizarre
behavior by the liver. If the disease were to
be accurately named, then, it would be called
Acidic Lifestyle and Food Choice Dis-Ease, or
simply ALFCD.
ALFCD would be a far more accurate name that
would make sense to people. If it’s an acidic
lifestyle and foods choice dis-ease, then it
seems that the obvious solution to the dis-ease
would be to choose a lifestyle and foods that
aren’t so acidic. Of course that may be a bit
of simplification since you have to distinguish
between healthy alkaline lifestyles and foods
and unhealthy acidic lifestyle and foods. But
at least the name ALFCD gives clients or patients
a better idea of what’s actually going on rather
than naming the dis-ease after a symptom, such
as high cholesterol. You see, the symptom is not
the dis-ease, but conventional medicine insists
on calling the symptom the dis-ease because that
way it can treat the symptom and claim success
without actually addressing the underlying cause,
which remains a mystery to modern medicine.
But let’s move on to some other dis-eases so you
get a clearer picture of how this actually works.
Another dis-ease that’s caused by poor lifestyle
and acidic food choice is diabetes. Type 2
diabetes is the natural physiological and metabolic
result of a person consuming refined carbohydrates
and added sugars in large quantities, undigested
proteins from beef, chicken, and pork without
engaging in regular physical exercise that would
compensate for such dietary practices.
The name ‘diabetes’ is meaningless to the average
person. The disease should be called Excessive Acid
Dis-Ease, or EAD. If it were called Excessive Acid
Dis-ease, the solution to it would be rather apparent;
simply eat less sugar, eliminate all animal proteins,
eggs, dairy, drink fewer soft drinks, exercise and so
on. But of course that would be far too simple for
the medical community, so the dis-ease must be given
a complex name such as diabetes that puts its
solution out of reach of the average patient.
Another dis-ease that is named after its symptom
is cancer. In fact, to this day, most doctors and
many patients still believe that cancer is a physical
thing: a tumor. In reality, a tumor is the solution
of cancer, not its cause. A tumor is simply a
physical manifestation of bound up acidic cells
so they do not spoil other healthy cells. The
tumor is the solution to cells damaged by acids
not the problem. The truth is cancer is not a
cell but an acidic liquid. When a person ‘has
cancer,’ what they really have is cancerous tissues
or latent tissue acidosis. They are absorbing
their own acidic urine. It would be a far better
named for the dis-ease: Cancerous Tisssue Dis-Ease(CTD)
or Latent Tissue Acidosis or LTA.
If cancer were actually called Latent Tissue Acidosis,
it would seem ridiculous to try to cure cancer by
cutting out tumors through surgery and by destroying
the immune system with chemotherapy. And yet these
are precisely the most popular treatments for cancer
offered by conventional medicine. These treatments
do absolutely nothing to support the patient’s
immune system and prevent the build up of acids
in the tissues. That’s exactly why most people who
undergo chemotherapy or the removal of tumors through
surgical procedures end up with yet more cancer a few
months or a few years later. It’s also another reason
why survival rates of cancer have barely budged over
the last twenty years. (In other words, conventional
medicine’s treatments for cancer simply don’t work.)
The main reason is current medical science wrongly
perceives cancer as a cell when in reality cancer
is an acidic liquid, like lactic acid.
This whole situation stems from the fact that the
dis-ease is misnamed. It isn’t cancer, it isn’t a
tumor and it certainly isn’t a dis-ease caused by
having too strong of an immune system that needs
to be destroyed through chemotherapy. It is simply
latent tissue acidosis. And if it were called
latent tissue acidosis dis-ease or urine in the
tissues dis-ease, the effective treatment for
cancer would be apparent.
The kidneys are responsible for eliminating acids
out of the blood and recycling alkalinity back into
the blood. When we have an over-acidic lifestyle
and diet this puts stress on the kidneys which
can cause them to breakdown. The result is kidney
dis-ease caused by circulatory acids. If acids
are not eliminated out of the blood they will
then be thrown out into the tissues leading to
latent tissue acidosis and eventual cancerous
tissue. Medical science uses dialysis to purify
the blood from acidity and prevent latent tissue
acidosis. If one will stop their acidic lifestyle
and diet and begin to alkalize the blood and
tissues this will support the kidneys and
prevent kidney disease and the need for
dialysis.
There are many other dis-eases that are given
misleading names by western medicine. But if you
look around the world and take a look at how
dis-eases are named elsewhere, you will find
many countries have dis-ease names that actually
make sense.
For example, in Chinese medicine, Alzheimer’s
dis-ease is given a name that means, when
translated, ‘feeble mind disease.’ In Chinese
medicine, the name of the dis-ease more accurately
describes the actual cause of the dis-ease which
is caused by acids or urine on the brain, whereas
in western medicine, the name of the dis-ease
seems to be intended to obscure the root cause
of the dis-ease, thereby making all dis-eases
sound far more complex and mysterious than they
really are.
This is one way in which doctors and practitioners
of western medicine keep medical treatments out
of the reach of the average citizen. Because,
by God, they sure don’t want people thinking for
themselves about the causes of dis-ease!
By creating a whole new vocabulary for medical
conditions, they can speak their own secret
language and make sure that people who aren’t
schooled in medicine don’t understand what
they’re saying. That’s a shame, because the
treatments and cures for virtually all chronic
dis-eases are actually quite simple and can be
described in plain language, such as making
different alkaline food choices, getting more
natural sunlight, drinking more alkaline water,
engaging in regular physical exercise, avoiding
specific acidic foods, supplementing our diet
with green foods and green drinks and alkalizing
nutritional supplements and so on.
See, western medicine prefers to describe
dis-eases in terms of chemistry. When you’re
depressed, you aren’t suffering from a lack of
natural sunlight; you are suffering from a ‘brain
chemistry imbalance’ that can only be regulated,
they claim, by ingesting toxic chemicals to alter
your brain chemistry. When your bones are brittle,
it’s not acidic brittle bones dis-ease; it’s
called osteoporosis, something that sounds very
technical and complicated. And to treat it, western
doctors and physicians will give you prescriptions
for expensive drugs that somehow claim to make
your bones less brittle. But in fact, the real
treatment for this can be described in plain
language once again: regular physical exercise,
vitamin D supplementation, mineral supplements
that include calcium and strontium, natural sunlight,
and avoidance of acidic foods such as soft drinks,
white flour and added sugars.
In fact, virtually every dis-ease that’s prominent
in modern society — diabetes, cancer, heart
disease, osteoporosis, clinical depression,
irritable bowel syndrome and so on — can be
easily described in plain language without
using complex terms at all. These dis-eases
are simply misnamed. And I believe that they
are intentionally misnamed to put the jargon
out of reach of everyday citizens. As a result,
there’s a great deal of arrogance in the language
of western medicine, and this arrogance furthers
the language of separation. Separation never
results in healing. In order to effect healing,
we must bring together the language of healers
and patients using plain language that real people
understand and that real people can act upon.
We need to start describing dis-eases in terms
of their root causes, not in terms of their arcane,
biochemical actions. When someone suffers from
seasonal affective disorder or clinical depression,
for example, let’s call it what it is: Sunlight
Deficiency Disorder. To treat it, the person simply
needs to get more sunlight. This isn’t rocket science,
it’s not complex, and it doesn’t require a
prescription.
If someone is suffering from osteoporosis, let’s
get realistic about the words we use to describe
the condition: it’s really Acidic Bones Dis-ease.
And it should be treated with things that will
enhance bone density, such as nutrition, physical
exercise and avoidance of acidic foods and drinks
that strip away bone mass from the human body to
neutralize the excess acids in the blood and
tissues.
All of this information, of course, is rather
shocking to old-school doctors and practitioners
of western medicine, and the bigger their egos
are, the more they hate the idea of naming dis-eases
in plain language that patients can actually
comprehend. That’s because if the simple truths
about dis-eases and their causes were known,
health would be more readily available to everyday
people, and that would lessen the importance of
physicians and medical researchers.
There’s a great deal of ego invested in the medical
community, and they sure don’t want to make sound
health attainable to the average person without
their expert advice. Many Doctors want to serve
as the translators of ‘truth’ and will balk at
any attempts to educate the public to either practice
medicine on their own.
But in reality, health (and a connection with
spirit) is attainable by every single person.
Health is easy, it is straightforward, it is direct
and, for the most part, it is available free of
charge. A personal connection with our Creator is
the same if we ask humbly in prayer for a
relationship with Him, and guidance.
Don’t believe the names of dis-eases given to you
by your doctor. Those names are designed to obscure,
not to inform. They are designed to separate you

Viewing live blood under a microscope is probably as old as the microscope itself. But it was the work of European scientists Dr. Antoine Bechamp and Dr. Gunther Enderlein in the mid-19th and early 20th Centuries that would advance the use of the microscope, challenge the medical establishment of the day and propose new ways of interpreting what was being viewed in blood. Other microscopists included noted physiologist, Dr. Claude Bernard, who coined the term ‘internal milieu,’ ‘Germ Theory’ advocate Louis Pasteur, Californian Dr. Virginia Livingston Wheeler and Canadian scientist Gaston Naessens.
In the 1920s, European medical practitioners added another twist to unconventional microscopy when they began looking at dried blood samples, later called the Oxidative Stress Test. A glass microscope slide is dabbed onto a bead of blood on the finger in sequence several times, resulting in a slide with 8 individual drops of blood pressed upon the slide and allowed to air dry.
The resulting clotting patterns seen in the dry blood under the bright field microscopy format reveal a characteristic ‘footprint’ which can be seen in similar cases and, thus, are predictive of certain generalized pathologies. For instance, cases of advanced degenerative disease show very poor clotting, minimal fibrin formation with many white ‘puddles’ disseminated throughout the sample. A healthy control subject’s blood shows a tight, fibrin rich clotting pattern with no white polymerized protein puddles.
In the 1930s, the head of surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. H.L. Bowlen, MD, introduced the dry blood test to America. Dr. Bowlen learned the dry test from President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s physicians, Drs. Heitlan and LaGarde. In the 1970s, one of Heitlan-LaGarde’s students, Dr. Robert Bradford of the American Biologics Hospital in Mexico, began teaching other practitioners including Dr. Robert O. Young over 30 years ago. So now there is over 70 years of dry blood testing data by hundreds of health care practitioners worldwide.
One of the most significant theories I can share with you is the primary site where hematopoiesis or red blood cell production takes place – and that is in the intestinal crypts of the small intestine. It is in the intestinal crypts that liquidfied food is biologically transformed into the erythroblast, and then into the primary cell, the erythrocyte, or the red blood cell. It is through this understanding that you will come to understand the importance of this article’s heading, ‘what does blood have to do with it?’
It has everything to do with it! The red blood cell is the primary cell that becomes a bone cell, a muscle cell, a heart cell, a liver cell when needed. The quality of the blood determines the quality of the body cells and the quality of the blood is determined by what you eat, what you drink and what you think! So, if you are eating proton-rich acidic foods and drinks, you will have weak blood cells and eventually weak body cells. All major disorders are a result of weak blood and weak blood is a result of the lack of electron-rich alkaline food and drink.
In 1952, four physiologists, Drs. Donn, Cunningham, Sabin and Jordon performed a two-week starvation experiment using chickens and doves. They found that the red blood cell production was from the bone marrow. When fasting or starving, the cells of the bone marrow, adipose tissue, muscular tissue and liver tissue transform into red blood cells. The process always begins with the bone even when the bowels are congested, or in the case of the condition of ciliac sprue, when there is damage to the intestinal villus.
In spite of what the four physiologists discovered, the primary site of normal blood production originates in the intestinal crypts. When we are congested in the bowel from eating proton-rich acidic foods the production of the red blood cells stops in the intestine and the body cells transform reversely to the red blood cells in order to keep constant the amount of red blood cells at 5 million red blood cells per cubic millimeter.
This is the reason folks on high protein diets, like Atkins and the South Beach diets, lose weight. They are wasting their body cells away to make red blood cells at the expense of their health while they are congested in the bowels with morbid undigested animal matter!
Rabbits have 5.5 million to 6 million red blood cells. If they are fed nothing, they will die in 2 to 3 weeks. Now, I have never heard of obese rabbits nor I have I heard of rabbits dieing of cancer let alone having reproductive challenges. However, the amount of red blood cells rarely decreases to less than 3 million. Why does the rabbit keep a constant amount of red blood cells without producing them physiologically? The reason is the same as in humans; body cells are reversed transformed into red blood cells. Therefore, such rabbits and even humans will show empty body cells after autopsy.
For example, the liver will retain its shape but its cytoplasm will have vanished. The cells of all organs of the rabbit or the human – dead from starvation – reveal considerable damage. The cells of the liver, kidney, and even the brain become porous. This is caused, as I have said before, from the reverse transformation of the body cells. Through this reverse transformation our body organs can function with a minimum amount of red blood cells until the very end of life.
Current medical science distinguishes between the red blood cells and the tissues or body cells. In reality, they are related to each other and can be transformed – one to another – in both directions. This is what I have termed biological transformation or pleomorphism, but it is currently not accepted by current medical savants!
When a person is eating electron-rich alkaline food and drink, they are building healthy red blood cells and healthy body cells. The body stays energetic and at a healthy weight. When the bowels become congested or damaged from proton-rich acidic food, red blood cell production is impaired and body cells are reversed transformed into red blood cells. Understand that red blood cells not only deliver oxygen and remove cellular acidic wastes, but they are the primary foundational stem cells for creating new bone, muscle, and nerve cells, etc. All current diets put your red blood cells at risk and will eventually lead to cellular breakdown and major sickness and dis-ease, hopefully later than sooner.
Since 1952, medical science has deducted that red blood cells in humans is made in the red marrow of the bone. This is true and only true when one is starving to death. When the body is starving, body cells transform back to red blood cells in order to maintain the balance of human blood at an ideal 5 million red blood cells per cubic millimeter.
When one is not eating right you lose weight by wasting body cells that are biologically transformed into red blood cells. When one is congested in the bowel from eating proton-rich acidic foods and drinks, the body begins to waste body cells to make new red blood cells.
This is why the scripture in Leviticus is so important to understand! It describes the biology of the human cell. And I repeat, ‘The life of all flesh is the blood.’ This scripture does not say, ‘The life of all flesh is in the blood.’ No, flesh is blood and blood is flesh, and the quality of the flesh is determined by what you eat, drink and even think! So, as they say in the computer world, ‘garbage in garbage out.’ This is why ALL diets will eventually fail you because they do NOT address the significance of the red blood cell – and the foods, drinks and thoughts that will build healthy blood that, in turn, will build a healthy energetic body that is neither underweight or overweight – but perfect weight!”

There is not known in all the realms of architecture or mechanics one little device which is not found in the human organism. The pulley, the lever, the inclined plane, the hinge, the ‘universal joint,’ tubes and trapdoors, the scissors, grindstone, whip, arch, girders, filters, valves, bellows, pump, camera, harp, irrigation plant, telegraph and telephone systems. All these and a hundred other devices which man thinks he has invented, but which have only been telegraphed to the brain from the Solar Plexus and crudely copied or manifested on the objective canvas.
No waterway on earth is so complete or so populous as that wonderful ‘river of life’, the blood stream. It has been said that ‘all roads lead to Rome.’ I have discovered that all roads of real knowledge lead to the ‘river of life’ — the blood. The blood is an epitome of the universe. When man turns the mighty searching’s of reason and investigation within the ‘river of life’ of the blood, a new heaven and earth will appear.
While I have theorized that all body cells are made by the transformation of the red blood cells – It is also true that blood is made from the food and supplements that we eat and the liquids that we drink. The foods and the liquids that we eat and drink are set free by the process of transformation called digestion and carried into the circulation through the delicate villi and microvilli of the small intestine. The villi and microvilli are analogous to the roots of a tree or plant with the same biological purpose – to make embryonic cells or stem cells.
Air breathed into the lungs enters into the arteries and chemically unites with the minerals and living anatomical elements of the blood stream, and by a wonderful transformation creates blood, known as ‘hematopoiesis’, which then through transformation creates flesh, bone, muscle, nerves, organs, hair, nails, etc.
The quality of the food we eat and the supplements we take and the liquids we drink determines the quality of the blood. As is the blood, so is the body – so is the body, so is the brain – as is the brain, so is the quality of thought. As a man or woman buildeth, so is he or she. And as a man or woman IS, so thinks he or she. Through my research I have found that the best way to build healthy blood is with green foods, green drinks and polyunsaturated fats.
Everyday the body works extremely hard to keep the ‘river of life’, the fluids of the blood at a delicate pH balance of 7.365. Any variation from this delicate pH balance the body goes into preservation mode to protect and maintain the integrity of this fluid at 7.365. If the pH of the blood is higher then 7.365 this indicates a state of acidosis in the tissues as the body is attempting to maintain the pH balance of the blood. If the blood pH drops below 7.365 then the buffering system is either depleted or struggling and the acids are in the blood indicating a more serious acidic or degenerative condition. This is called by medical savants decompensated acidosis. The body will do everything it can to maintain the blood pH at the expense of other organs and organ systems to prevent decompensated acidosis. This can lead to latent tissue acidosis which can be determined by measuring the pH of the urine. In latent tissue acidosis the pH of the urine will be less than 7.2 at any time during the day but most prominent in the morning urine. If the problem of latent tissue acidosis is not resolved then serious degenerative dis-ease or so-called disease will ensue. This includes heart disease and especially ALL cancerous conditions.
One of the major buffers of the blood is fat, and especially the electron rich polyunsaturated fats found in the blood and body cells. Fats are used to buffer acids for the purpose of maintaining the plasma or extracellular pH at 7.365. These fats bound to acids are then eliminate or stored away from the organs and organ systems that sustain life.
When the diet is over-acidic, this can draw down or use up the essential fats both in the cells and in the extracellular fluids causing a fatty acid deficiency leading to poor bi-lipid membranes or weak blood and body cells and many associated symptomologies: anemia (low concentrations of iron which acts as the oxygen carrier of the red blood cell), anisocytosis (irregular and unhealthy blood cells), rouleau (when the blood cells chain together causing oxygen deprivation from poor ciriculation), disseminated vascular coagulation (when the blood begins to clot prematurely and thicken. This causes high blood pressure), and cellular breakdown leading to major disorders.
I have studied live and dried blood for over thirty years. I utilize a high powered phase contrast and bright field light microscope to view a drop of blood from a client’s fingertip, obtained with a sterile lancet. The purpose is to examine the structure of the blood cells and plasma fluid, to determine the relative level of cellular health and cleanliness, and to view areas of balance and imbalance suggested by the blood picture. I use live blood analysis to evaluate the internal biochemical internal environment referred to as the biological terrain to see whether or not it is dirty or clean and the strength and weakness of the red and white blood cells.
Healthy blood under live blood cell analysis shows a clean internal environment and unhealthy blood shows a dirty internal environment full of yeast, bacteria and damaged blood cells with a high white count trying to clean up the cellular debris from an over-acid lifestyle and diet. Where standard laboratory blood tests are generally quantitative (how many cells are there?), live and dried blood cell analysis is qualitative (what is the condition of the cells?). Standard laboratory tests are often used as pre and post studies to live blood cell analysis because there is correlative value in knowing both the quantity and quality of the client’s blood cells.

The Life and Death of the body Is In The Blood! What’s Blood Got To Do With It? Everything!
I perceive from thirty years of blood research that the blood is the basic material of which the human body is continually being created or formed. I have referred to the red blood cell as the foundational stem cell. As is the blood, so is the body. Why? Because body cells are created from blood – the red blood cells. Continuing with this thought, I also perceive, so is the body, so is the brain. And, as is the brain, so is the quality of thought. As a man or woman buildeth, so is he or she. And as a man or woman IS, so thinks he or she.
Solomon’s temple is an allegory of a man or woman’s temple — the human body. This house is built without a sound of a saw or hammer. And the quality of that temple is dependent upon the quality of the food, drink, and thought one puts into it. The saying ‘you are what you eat’ or ‘you are what you think’ is at the foundation of organized earthly matter.
Your body is the temple of the living God. But man, blinded by selfishness and pride, searches here and there. Scours the heavens with his telescope, digs deep into the earth, and dives into the ocean’s depths, in a vain search for the ‘Elixir of Life’ that may be found between the soles of his feet and the crown of his head.
Our human body is a miracle of organization. No work of man can compare with it in accuracy of its process and the simplicity of its law. This law is the law of the universe, the law of opposites or opposition – and there needs to be opposition in all things that we might learn by our experience. So we can understand cold by experiencing hot or health when we experience sickness or dis-ease.
As I perceive the complexity of the human body I realize this: at maturity, the human skeleton contains about 165 bones, so delicately and perfectly adjusted. The muscles are about 500 in number. The length of the alimentary canal is 32 feet long.
The amount of blood in an average adult is 5 to 6 liters weighing over 30 pounds or one-fifth of the total body weight and is a living flowing organ. There is over 3 million red blood cells made every second and 11 million body cells made from blood per second.
The heart is six inches in length and four inches in diameter, and beats seventy times per minute, 4200 times per hour, 100,800 per day and 36,720,000 per year. At each beat, two and one-half ounces of blood are thrown out of it, 175 ounces per minute, 656 pounds per hour, or about 8 tons per day. All the blood in the body passes through the heart every three minutes. And during seventy years it lifts 270,000,000 tons of blood.
The lungs contain about one gallon of air at their usual degree of inflation. We breath, on an average, 1200 breaths per hour and inhale 600 gallons of air, or 24,000 gallons daily. The aggregate surface of air-cells of the lungs exceed 20,000 square inches, an area nearly equal to that of a room twelve feet square.
The average weight of the brain of an adult is three pounds, eight ounces. The average female brain is two pounds, four ounces. The convolutions of a woman’s brain cells and tissues are finer and more delicate in fiber and mechanism, which evidently accounts for the intuition of women.
It would appear that the difference in the convolutions and fineness of tissue in the brain matter is responsible for the degrees of consciousness called reason and intuition.
The nerves are all connected with the brain directly, or by the spinal marrow, but nerves receive their sustenance from the blood, and their motive power from the solar plexus dynamic. The nerves, together with the branches and minute ramifications, probably exceed ten million in numbers.
The skin is composed of three layers, and varies from one-eight to one-quarter of an inch in thickness. The average area of skin is estimated to be about 2,000 square inches. The atmospheric pressure, being fourteen pounds to the square inch, a person of medium size is subject to a pressure of 40,000 pounds. Each square inch of skin contains 3,500 sweat tubes, or perspiratory pores (each of which may be likened to a little drain tile) one-fourth of an inch in length, making an aggregate length of the entire surface of the body 201,166 feet, or a tube for draining the body nearly forty miles in length.
Our body takes in an average of five and a half pounds of food and drink each day, which amounts to one ton of solid and liquid nourishment annually. So in seventy years a man or woman eats and drinks 1000 times his or her weight.
